Where Did 97% of Our Database Reads Go?
We replaced polling with real-time listeners across every POS app. The result: instant syncing, dramatically lower costs, and a system that feels alive.
Your POS talks to your accounts. Your website takes orders. Your kitchen sees everything on screen. Here is how we connected the dots.

The epos247 Team
Building the next-generation POS
One of our core beliefs at epos247 is that a POS shouldn't be an island. It should be the hub that connects your entire operation. Over the past few months, we've been heads-down building integrations that turn that belief into reality, and we wanted to share the story of how it all fits together.
Let's start with Xero. If you use Xero for your accounts (and honestly, who doesn't at this point), epos247 can now push your daily sales directly into your books. Connect your Xero account in the back office, map your payment methods to bank accounts, set your revenue and VAT accounts, and we handle the rest. Every night at 1am, an automated job wakes up, pulls together your day's sales, groups them by product group and VAT rate, creates an invoice in Xero, and posts payments against the right bank accounts. Paid outs and paid ins flow through as bank transactions. Your accountant will think you hired a bookkeeper.
Then there's Online Ordering with Stripe. Your customers visit your ordering page, browse your menu (complete with real-time pricing and promotions), build a basket, and pay by card. The order appears instantly on your POS and Kitchen Video System. We use Stripe Connect under the hood, which means payments go directly to your bank account with no middleman holding your money. Setting it up takes about five minutes in the back office: connect Stripe, configure your menu visibility, and share the link.
Speaking of the Kitchen Video System, this has been one of our most requested features. It's a dedicated screen (we have both a web version and a Windows app) that shows incoming orders as colour-coded tickets. Green for new, amber for in progress, items bump off as they're completed. There's a summary sidebar that aggregates item counts across all active orders, so your chef can see at a glance that there are 4 fish and chips, 2 burgers, and 7 portions of chips needed right now. It even supports virtual printers, so orders from third-party platforms can appear on the same screen.
What ties all of this together is our real-time cloud architecture. When a customer places an online order, the KVS sees it within a second. When the kitchen bumps an item, the POS updates instantly. When a sale completes, the data is ready for the nightly Xero sync. There's no polling, no batch processing, no "wait five minutes for it to show up." It's genuinely real-time, and it makes the whole system feel alive.
We've got more integrations on the roadmap (payment terminals, loyalty platforms, delivery aggregators), but we're really proud of where we are today. A POS that does your books, takes online orders, and runs your kitchen, all from one system, all in real time. That's the epos247 vision, and it's getting closer every week.
